What to Expect
When believers deal with politics and government, their identities as Christians are not kept separate from their identities as citizens of their nations; they are called to be Christian citizens. Walk This Way gets its organizing principle from this truth.
The book is divided into three parts:
- I: The Christian Citizen's Foundation establishes the grounding truths about who believers are as God’s children and disciples of Christ,
- II: The Christian Citizen's Advantages describes the unique blessings believers have that will benefit them when dealing with politics, and
- III: The Christian Citizen Engages with Politics gives guidance about how all this is put together—practically, faithfully, and confidently—in a believer’s life.
Walk This Way puts politics into the context of a Christian’s faith and life, where it belongs. Scripture’s truth will bring confidence, its guidance will provide direction, and its promises will give peace.
Walk This Way is not:
- technical or academic
- addressed only to today’s circumstances
- limited in application to the United States (or any other single nation)
- an argument for any particular political party or “side”
- a prescription for electoral success
- one person’s take-it-or-leave-it opinions

About the Author
Jeff Samelson is a writer and pastor with a unique background. After getting a degree in political science, he served as a foreign service officer at the U.S. embassies in Singapore and Bogotá, Colombia. A long-time interest in public ministry then drew him to return home and study at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, after which he returned to the Washington, DC area and pastored a church there for 21 years. The combination of these experiences, the people he has shepherded, and his study of Scripture has compelled him to think deeply about how politics intersects with Christian life and faith.
He and his wife, Charlene, live now in Wisconsin. When Jeff isn’t busy writing, preaching, or teaching, they love to travel to interesting new places in the US and abroad. And take lots of pictures.
