Allergic to Monday Mornings?
(Maybe you'd even say you hate them?)
Christians aren't immune!
Move up to Five-Star Monday Mornings!
I saw it as a pastor.
The disconnect. The distress, sometimes.
Christians who were happy to be with fellow believers, gathered around God’s Word, being fed, worshipping, learning, connecting. On Sunday morning.
But sometime that afternoon or evening, or maybe overnight, something would shift. Monday morning loomed, and it was almost as if Sunday had never happened. Whether it was unfinished work hanging over someone’s head, a bad boss, unpleasant coworkers, a going-nowhere job, or another-week-getting-the-kids-to-school-and-practice and home-management headaches, something made the start of another workweek so different and distracting that it was like a double life: confident Christian in worship, yet confused, disconcerted, or insecure at work.
Not every week, of course. And not every Christian. But it’s common enough that you’ve probably experienced it yourself — or at least observed it in others. Believe it or not, I too often dealt with something similar as a pastor when my weekend was over and I had to face a fresh batch of issues and uncertainties with my daily work.
This disconnect is not good. I doubt any Christian will disagree with that.
So something that bridges that gap, that helps equip you—as the Christian that you have been called to be—for Monday mornings and the struggles of the start to a new week, is going to be a good thing. Maybe even something that changes Monday mornings from a low point to a high point, or from an object of dread to an opportunity for love and service.
I wanted to give believers that something better. That’s what this newsletter, Five-Star Monday Mornings is all about: a new and sanctified view of what we’d often rather look away from.
I suspect you can use that, no matter where you are in your life, because Monday follows Sunday in everybody’s week. And it’s not always so easy to get our hearts and minds to see the responsibilities and challenges that a new week brings as a blessing — another chance to serve God and your neighbor, and to grow in love and grace in the process.
So I invite you to sign up below for the Five-Star Monday Mornings newsletter. Every week you will get some extra strength, encouragement, and information — all backed by the power of God’s Word. Just a few minutes with Scripture and more to focus your mind and heart can give you perspective and direction that will help get your Monday and your week off to a more fruitful start.
Each week’s Five-Star Monday Mornings newsletter gives you, briefly,
- ⭐️ Perspective (from the Psalms),
- ⭐️ a Pearl (of wisdom in the form of a Bible passage and brief exposition),
- ⭐️ a Point of fact,
- ⭐️ a Pithy quote or truth, and
- ⭐️ a Prayer that brings everything together.
A few minutes’ reading will help remind you who you are and what you have in Christ, and prepare you for whatever the week throws at you.
